Celebration of the International Women's Day at GPCKiE

How beautiful it is to see that women aren’t forgotten and people from here have prepared something special with this occasion of International Women’s Day which is dedicated to them.

Because of the fact that 8th March it was on a Friday, people from here decided that The International Women’s Day to be celebrated with a show dedicated to all women on Saturday, 9th  March, at the  Gminno Parkowa Centrum Kultury i Ekologii w Plichtowie’s headquarters. Of  course, this change has occurred from the desire to have as many participants as possible at this event.

So everyone of us took part in the preparation and organization of this event. Some time before my arrival, the responsibilities has been established carefully, so that everything to be conducted normally.

For this event were contacted an musician who will caress the ears of ladies with beautiful songs, an actress who will delight the audience with a play which is prepared especially for this occasion, and a mime who will create a mute show in a so noisy world, thus being achived an unforgettable evening.

Let’s not forget the kitchen which was mobilized very well, every woman who took part in was creating culinary wonders especially  regarding to cakes. And all of these cakes were prepared at home with care and love, deserving the title of "home-made”.

On 8th March I woke up with a thought "happy celebration to all women” which almost came out of my mouth, but when I was looking through the window I saw only white… it was snowing like in fairy tales and there were about 5 degrees below 0, as we were in the middle of winter. About the weather in Romania… there were about 17 degrees and sunny day.

When I arrived at the headquarters, considering the weather, I’ve took the shovel and I have made path because I didn’t want to see someone stuck in the snow and lose the spectacle from Saturday. Also, every woman from the headquarter received from my side a flower and the warmest wishes with the occasion of Women’s Day. The curious thing is that I’ve negotiated for the flowers with a Pole who didn’t speak English. I think that even I couldn’t speak Polish and he couldn’t speak English, we understood and the price was the one that I wanted. So in negotiations body language has a big role.

So here we are, 9th of March, and everyone seemed to be agitated inside the headquarter, but this agitation was auspicious, because at 17:00 o’clock everything was ready. Before this hour the women started to come and take place into the room in which the show will take place.

After everybody came, of course we’ve waited for people who have encountered difficulties to get to the headquarter, the spectacle started.

In one moment in the room it started to be very silent, and the director of the centre started to present the spectacle. After this short presentations the show began with the first part: songs dedicated to all women present, followed by a play represented by a monologue of a young lady. After several minutes of this show, I realized that this blend of music with theatre brought a big smile on the women’s faces.

The first part with songs and theatre lasted more than one hour, and in the pause of two parts of the spectacle took place a raffle organized by a very known cosmetics company.

This short break was followed by special wishes of local council, but also from my side: "With the occasion of this celebration when all nature enjoys to come back to life, I wish you to have a warm spring in your soul, to enjoy the birds symphony dedicated to you, to be loved and to have part of the same attention from men side at least as it happens in this wonderful and blessed day”.

After this wishes every woman received from me a card, which was made by me, with this wishes mentioned above, but of course the wishes were been written in Polish & Romanian languages.

After a short break for a cake and a coffee, the show was resumed with the second part, the one offered by a mime. The silent act and the interpretation were special, because in this show the language was universal, the body language.

In comparison with the first act when we stayed so quiet in our seats, now we started to laugh. It’s amazing how without any word, just by gestures someone can snatch big smiles, laughs and applauses, like those I’ve seen in that day.

Since all have a beginning and an end, the same was with our spectacle with the occasion of Women’s Day. Unfortunately I couldn’t understand everything that was said in this show because of the language barrier represented by the Polish language which I don’t know, but the smiles, laughs and applauses of the audience made me believe that the quality of the spectacle was good…
