In my first article about current
activities of young people I mentioned Greek Evening which was organized from
the initiative of vocal – dance group FUEGO of course with the support of our
cultural center. It took place on 20th April 2013. In the Community Center of
Culture and Ecology in Plichtów gathered a lot of people, a large hall was over
brimmed. Audience liked "Beautiful Helen" performance, as well as
dance workshops with learning steps, which were the last part of the evening.
People who came in that day to GPCKiE tried willingly Greek food.
On Sunday, on 21st April in GPCKiE
took place the ceremony to decorate with medals people who celebrated their
golden wedding anniversary. 10 couples, so in total 20 people celebrated the
50th anniversary of their wedding. I have to say that it was very important
event for me and I am very happy that I could take part in it. In the eyes of
those older people, despite passage of time, I could see true love,
understanding, mutual trust, but also happiness. Couples were handed diplomas,
medals and flowers. There were also cake and toast. The girls from FUEGO helped
in preparation and later honored that celebration with their vocal performance.
I also said my best wishes and congratulations to all of couples, in Romanian
and English - and my wishes have been translated into Polish language to be
understood by all.
On 15th May in GPCKiE we organized
(of course with youth) workshops about EVS. During this meeting, we brought the
contents of the "Youth in Action" Program, European Voluntary Service
and our project "Echoes of Europe". In addition, during the meeting,
I presented myself, the activities of the Zamolxes Foundation and some basic
information about my country - Romania. After all presentations it was the time
for tasting Romanian sweets. Then young people helped me with Romanian dances
workshop, when people could learn some steps of these dances.
On 18th and 19th May in GPCKiE in
Plichtów, from the initiative of FUEGO’s instructors - Danuta and Panagiotis
Stogidis were organized dance workshops - Dance Picnic. With young people we
took part in learning of Greek continental, island dances and Israeli dances.
The members of FUEGO with their instructors presented dances on Saturday night,
and before dance Anna German’s songs were sung.
As every year on the last Sunday in
May took place Local Government’s Picnic – Majówka Samorządowa, this year for
the fourteenth time. During the event, there were many attractions, which I
wrote about them in a separate article referred to Majówka. What is important
for me and for the whole project, was that youth were involved in preparation.
Some people helped me with a promotional booth of EVS, together we impart
information to all concerned. All these were managed with the support of my
mentor. Girls from FUEGO painted faces to all interested children. And in the
interval between that task girls showed their vocal talents by singing among
other things Show must go on and Diamonds.
On 14th June in the Teacher Club on
Piotrkowska Street was organized Greek Evening, in which attended our active
young people with the instructors. During the evening, our instructors were
talking about their story, which is very interesting, because they are Polish -
Greek marriage. So, both of them have knowledge about Polish and Greek habits.
Then the youth presented Greek dances and led a short workshop.
An important event for young people
working in GPCKiE was a trip to Krapkowice near Opole. Young people took part
in the workshops during the Midsummer Night. For me it was a great opportunity
to look closer at the event and customs. Also, much before we started to learn
steps to dance with the group. Especially for this event we had prepared three
views. Each time we presented shows, and then we learnt steps during the
workshops. The first scene was Greek dances, then Bavarian, and at the end
dances from various European countries.
On 6th July in our center was
organized an international folkloristic event, which was attended by groups
from four countries: Bulgaria, Georgia, Ukraine and Serbia. Also, at this event
took part the group FUEGO. Youth from Polish group assisted in the organization
of the event and also presented show dances and prepared workshops for
audience.
It is worth to mention, that young
people cooperating with GPCKiE develop not only artistically, but also on
sports field. With the support of Mayor of Nowosolna they managed to prepare a
volleyball court. By this we demonstrated that nothing is impossible when you
have the enthusiasm for word and the desire to play volleyball to achieve this
objective.
Also as part of the European
Voluntary Service youth came up with an idea that if every year gets by burning
ceramic, in this year, it may look a bit different. Therefore, on the program
of 18th July were provided among others a treasure hunt for children, bonfire
with sausages, projection stories and painting faces. According to me, the
biggest attraction for the children turned out to be treasure hunt. Although it
took 2 hours, the kids had good fun, the following puzzles were interesting for
them and they were willing to accomplish the tasks entrusted to them. And what
is important, the tasks weren’t so easy because they contained elements of
ecology, and some of them also required knowledge of English language - of course,
all adjusted to the age of the children (there were also some minor keywords).
On 19th July youth visited
Manufaktura. Everything was organized within European Voluntary Service. Youth
helped me in carrying out the survey on "Visions of young people’ life in
Poland." Young people were eager to answer for some questions. They were
also interested in European Voluntary Service and the ability to travel abroad
– they asked us a lot of questions. I think that making this kind of survey was
an interesting experience, not only for me but for all of us.
On 26th July we organized the second
Romanian Evening. It was connected with the projection of films about Romania
and tasting traditional Romanian dishes: soups, salad and cakes. Then we danced
dances from Romania. All this let to familiarize young people with the culture,
traditions and customs of Romania.
Last Monday – so on 29th July we
visited The Community Center of Łódź and we prepared the trailer presentation
of our project, Romania - my country, and a kind of surprise for all
participants of the meeting was the performance of FUEGO, which presented three
dances from Romania. It was a trailer which was like an announcement of the
Romanian Evening, which will take place probably in autumn, but outside of our
commune.
That’s all for the moment when it
comes to my and youth activities. I think we will continue to work so rapidly
and also develop and support each other in all difficult situations.
